Friday’s Featured smARTist Question

I’m putting telesummit material together and want to be sure I hit the mark for you!

“If you could ask a major collector your top 3 questions, what would they be?”

You can place your questions in the comments section below here on the post.

  1. 1) For you, what distinguishes good or great art that you want to have, from mediocre?

    2) How much attention do you pay to the artist’s resume and does an unimpressive resume influence your impression of the art?

    3) What is your preference or perceived preference of the present market on representational vs. non-representational art?

  2. Ariane says:

Thanks, Claire. Great questions… Stay tuned for smARTist Telesummit 2012 and I’ll have some answers for you!

  3. Maria Brophy says:

One burning question I have for collectors:

Do you purchase art for the love of it, or do you purchase it as an investment?

And I’d be curious to know how many people do buy it for an investment, and of those people, what price range are they in.

I”m guessing that those who buy in the $10,000 + range are somewhat interested in the investment value, and people who purchase in the lower ranges, say under $5,000, are buying for the love of it.

  4. Ariane says:

I’d say your guess, Maria, could be on the mark.

It will be interesting to see what one of our panelists on our special mid-week panel on Collectors (for the smARTist Telesummit 2012) turns up.

She will be interviewing collectors with specific questions submitted by artists, and I’ve submitted these questions.
